It is endemic to the Paraguaná Peninsula, northern Venezuela, and may be restricted to tropical dry forest habitats.[2] It is named after the type locality, Monte Cano. It is a small gecko: the holotype measured {{convert|19|mm|abbr=on}} in snout–vent length, with a tail almost as long.[3] Most specimens have been collected from the Monte Cano Reserve. Livestock are grazing within the reserve, potentially leading to habitat fragmentation. Also the expanding human population and infrastructure development in the area are threats to this species. However, too little is known about this species for a more accurate assessment.[2] References1. ^{{Cite journal | author = Schargel, W. | author2 = Rivas, G. | last-author-amp = yes | title = Lepidoblepharis montecanoensis | journal = The IUCN Red List of Threatened Species | volume = 2016 | page = e.T11522A67508868 | publisher = IUCN | date = 2016 | url = http://www.iucnredlist.org/details/11522/0 | doi = 10.2305/IUCN.UK.2016-1.RLTS.T11522A67508868.en | access-date = 12 December 2017}} {{Taxonbar|from=Q2711728}}{{gecko-stub}}2. ^1 {{IUCN2014.2| id = 11522| title = Lepidoblepharis montecanoensis| assessor = Kornacker, P.| year = 2010| downloaded = 3 October 2014}} 3. ^{{NRDB species|genus=Lepidoblepharis|species=montecanoensis|accessdate=3 October 2014}} 5 : Lepidoblepharis|Reptiles of Venezuela|Endemic fauna of Venezuela|Reptiles described in 1994|Taxonomy articles created by Polbot |
