Peter Salmon Collecott, CMG, was the British Ambassador to Brazil from 2004 to 2008.

He is a member of ADRg Ambassadors.

Biography

Born on 8 October 1950.
Graduated in Mathematics from St John's College, Cambridge, where he was Captain of Soccer.
PhD degree in Theoretical Physics from University of Cambridge.
Married Judith Patricia Pead in 1982.^[1]

Career

Entered Diplomatic Service in 1977.
Studied Arabic before a posting as First Secretary in Khartoum in 1980.
First Secretary (Economic/Commercial) Canberra 1982.
Head, Iran/Iraq Section, FCO 1986.
Assistant Head, European Community Department (External), FCO 1988.
Counsellor later Deputy Head of Mission Jakarta 1989.
Counsellor (EU and Economic) Bonn 1994.
Director Resources, FCO 1999.
Chief Clerk, later Director General Corporate Affairs, 2001.
British Ambassador to Brazil from August 2004 until November 2008.^[2]
