It is endemic to northern Borneo and found in Kalimantan (Indonesia) and Sarawak (Malaysia).[1][2] The specific name mjobergi honours Eric Mjöberg, a Swedish naturalist, ethnographer, and explorer. Common names Murud bubble-nest frog[2] and Mjöberg’s bush frog have been coined for it.[8] DescriptionAdult males measure {{convert|18|-|24|mm|in|1|abbr=on}} and adult females {{convert|22|-|32|mm|in|1|abbr=on}} in snout–vent length. The appearance is stocky.[8] The head is broader than it is long. The snout is rounded to elliptical. The tympanum is obscure. The finger and toe tips bear fleshy fringes and broad, oval discs; the fingers have rudimentary webbing while the more heavily webbed. The dorsal ground colour is pale grey to dark chestnut; the pattern is highly variable and may include bars, stripes, and mottling, or be plain. The iris is brown or goldish and has a horizontal dark bar.[10] Habitat and conservationPhilautus mjobergi occurs in submontane forests[8] and montane (oak-chestnut) forests[1] at elevations of {{convert|900|–|3000|m|abbr=on}} above sea level.[8] Males call at night from the shrub layer {{convert|0.15|-|3|m|ft|1|abbr=on}} above the ground. The eggs may be laid in pitcher plants.[1][10]This species may not be threatened because most logging occurs at lower elevations,[1] although this statement is based on a higher lower limit for this species (1500 m[1]) than found in other sources (800 m[8]). It occurs in several protected areas, including Kinabalu Park and Gunung Mulu National Park.[1] References1. ^1 2 3 4 5 {{cite web |url=http://www.frogsofborneo.org/rhacophoridae/303-rhacophoridae/philautus/mjobergi/264-philautusmjobergi |title=Philautus mjobergi Mjöberg’s Bush Frog |author1=Haas, A. |author2=Das, I. |author3=Hertwig, S.T. |last-author-amp=yes |year=2017 |work=Frogs of Borneo |accessdate=20 December 2017}} [1][2][3][4]2. ^1 2 {{cite journal |last1=Dring |first1=Julian |title=Bornean treefrogs of the genus Philautus (Rhacophoridae) |journal=Amphibia-Reptilia |date=1987 |volume=8 |issue=1 |pages=19–47 |doi=10.1163/156853887x00036}} 3. ^1 2 3 {{cite web |url=http://research.amnh.org/vz/herpetology/amphibia/Amphibia/Anura/Rhacophoridae/Rhacophorinae/Philautus/Philautus-mjobergi |title=Philautus mjobergi Smith, 1925 |author=Frost, Darrel R. |year=2017 |work=Amphibian Species of the World: an Online Reference.
