Ranked 14th with 3 gold medals, 2 silver medals and 8 bronze medals with a total of 13 over-all medals. The Filipinos' triple gold all came in Boxing where Mansueto Velasco, Jr. reigned supreme in the light-flyweight division, Elias Recaido Jr. in the flyweight class, and Reynaldo Galido in the light-welterweight category. The three-two-eight gold-silver-bronze showing turned out to be the seventh best by the country at that time in the 43-year history and 12 Asiad stagings.[1] Medal summaryMedal table{{Medals table| caption = | team = Sport | hide_rank = yes | leading = | gold_1 = 0 | silver_1 = 0 | bronze_1 = 1 | name_1 = {{GamesSport|Athletics|Format=d}} | gold_2 = 0 | silver_2 = 1 | bronze_2 = 1 | name_2 = {{GamesSport|Bowling|Format=d}} | gold_3 = 3 | silver_3 = 0 | bronze_3 = 2 | name_3 = {{GamesSport|Boxing|Format=d}} | gold_4 = 0 | silver_4 = 0 | bronze_4 = 2 | name_4 = {{GamesSport|Karate|Format=d}} | gold_5 = 0 | silver_5 = 1 | bronze_5 = 0 | name_5 = {{GamesSport|Taekwondo|Format=d}} | gold_6 = 0 | silver_6 = 0 | bronze_6 = 2 | name_6 = {{GamesSport|Wushu|Format=d}} }} References1. ^[https://news.google.com/newspapers?id=JqMxAAAAIBAJ&sjid=2QoEAAAAIBAJ&pg=4868%2C3236208 RP boxers get big heroes' welcome], Manila Standard External links
