These states are near the Great Lakes. The division contains five states: Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, and Wisconsin. It is one of two divisions used to categorize the region of the U.S. generally called the "Midwest"; the other such division is the West North Central states (The Great Plains States). The region closely matches the area of the Northwest Territory, excepting a portion of Minnesota. The East North Central division is a large part of the Great Lakes region, although the latter also includes Minnesota, New York, Pennsylvania, and the Canadian province of Ontario. It has a low rate of population growth and the estimated population as of 2015 is 46,787,011.[{{cite web|url=https://ucr.fbi.gov/crime-in-the-u.s/2015/crime-in-the-u.s.-2015/tables/table-4|title=Table 4|publisher=}}] 2. ^{{cite web|url=http://factfinder2.census.gov/faces/tableservices/jsf/pages/productview.xhtml?pid=ACS_13_1YR_DP05&prodType=table|title=American FactFinder - Results|first=U.S. Census|last=Bureau|publisher=}} 3. ^{{cite web|url=http://factfinder2.census.gov/faces/tableservices/jsf/pages/productview.xhtml?pid%3DDEC_10_DP_DPDP1%26prodType%3Dtable |title=Archived copy |accessdate=2012-02-25 |deadurl=yes |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20140305164937/http://factfinder2.census.gov/faces/tableservices/jsf/pages/productview.xhtml?pid=DEC_10_DP_DPDP1&prodType=table |archivedate=2014-03-05 |df= }} 4. ^{{cite web|url=http://factfinder2.census.gov/faces/tableservices/jsf/pages/productview.xhtml?pid=ACS_10_1YR_DP02&prodType=table|title=American FactFinder - Results|first=U.S. Census|last=Bureau|publisher=|deadurl=no|archiveurl=https://www.webcitation.org/682rNR7hP?url=http://factfinder2.census.gov/faces/tableservices/jsf/pages/productview.xhtml?pid=ACS_10_1YR_DP02|archivedate=2012-05-30|df=}} 5. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.mla.org/cgi-shl/docstudio/docs.pl?map_data_results |title=Archived copy |accessdate=2013-08-10 |deadurl=yes |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20130815140430/http://www.mla.org/cgi-shl/docstudio/docs.pl?map_data_results |archivedate=2013-08-15 |df= }} 6. ^{{cite web |url=http://holmescountychamber.com/press_factsheets.php?ID=14 |title=Archived copy |accessdate=2012-07-29 |deadurl=no |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20111230133808/http://holmescountychamber.com/press_factsheets.php?ID=14 |archivedate=2011-12-30 |df= }} {{Regions of the United States}}{{United States topics}} 4 : Midwestern United States|Census regions of the United States|Great Lakes|Great Lakes region (U.S.) |
