In 1981, the Professional Compounding Centers of America(PCCA) was incorporated to provide compounded medications to patients, when the medicine became unavailable commercially. PCCA describes their mission as "helping pharmacists and prescribers(sic) create personalized medicine that makes a difference in patients' lives"[2] The company, an advocate of pharmaceutical compounding, provides education, pharmaceutical consultation, and materials for compounding pharmacies to provide custom medications for patients. PCCA embraces education and advocacy via a cross-channel platform which includes The Mortar & Pestle Podcast[3], their long-running newsletter The Apothagram[4], and the company has a presence on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. PCCA notably offers a myriad of educational and professional seminars, collegiate outreach, marketing assistance, and on-site educational services for soon-to-be pharmacists or continuing education for current pharmacists[5].
