{{for|the soccer player|Rachel Wood (soccer)}}Rachel Wood is a geologist and professor of carbonate geoscience at the University of Edinburgh School of GeoSciences.^[1] She is also co-director of the International Centre for Carbonate Reservoirs.^[2]

Her research covers reef ecology, the evolution of reef systems, reef building and carbonate production.^[3] She is on the council of the Edinburgh Geological Society^[4] and a member of the Natural Environment Research Council Ion Microprobe Facility Steering Committee ^[5]

She is the author of Reef Evolution by Oxford University Press (1999)^[6]^[7]^[8]

She is an Associate Editor of the journal Petroleum Geoscience ^[9]
