It is made from a local variety of the Verduzzo grape. Since 2001, Ramandolo has been produced as a DOCG wine.[1] DOCG requirementsVerduzzo grapes destined for DOCG wine production are limited to a harvest yield no greater than 10 tonnes/ha with the grapes allowed to hang on the vine late in the season and may even receive extra drying after picking. This allows for a greater concentration of sugar which leaves a wine with noticeable residual sweetness even with the high minimum alcohol level of 14% required.[2] Wine stylesWine expert Peter Saunders describes well made examples of Ramandolo from favorable vintages as fragrant, full-bodied, slightly tannic and not too sweet.[2] Karen MacNeil describes Ramandolo has having a copper sheen to its deep yellow color with herbal notes.[3] References1. ^{{cite book| last1 = Bastianich| first1 = Joseph| last2 = Lynch| first2 = David| title = Vino italiano: the regional wines of Italy| year = 2005| publisher = Random House of Canada| isbn = 1400097746| pages = 38-40 }} 2. ^1 {{cite book| author = Peter Lionel Saunders| title = Wine label language| year = 2004| publisher = Firefly Books Ltd| isbn = 978-1-55297-720-0| page = 193 }} 3. ^{{cite book| last = MacNeil| first = Karen| title = The Wine Bible| year = 2001| publisher = Workman Publishing Company| isbn = 978-1-56305-434-1| pages = 349-350 }} 2 : Italian wine|Italian DOCG |
