Lt. Cdr. Richard Swan Baron (January 22, 1901 – March 15, 1942) was a United States Navy officer who received the Navy Cross for risking his life to recover classified documents during the bombardment of Cavite, Philippines.[1] He was killed during the bombing of Cebu City, Philippines.[2] His namesake, the {{USS|Baron|DE-166}}, a destroyer escort, was commissioned July 5, 1943.
