Born in Fairmont, West Virginia, he was previously head coach at Duquesne University, Northeastern University and McNeese State University.[1] CareerEverhart took over as head coach of the Duquesne Dukes basketball team on March 29, 2006. Growing up less than 100 miles from the campus, Everhart watched Duquesne basketball frequently. In his first two seasons at Duquesne, he took a team that had won only three games the season prior to his arrival to 10 wins in 2006–07 and 17 in 2007–08. Everhart had previously turned around programs at both McNeese State and Northeastern. In 2008–09, the Dukes made even more strides under Everhart, their signature performance coming in an upset win over #9 Xavier on February 7, 2009, Duquesne's biggest win in years. The sellout crowd stormed the court following the game. In his third season at Duquesne, he led the Dukes to the Atlantic 10 championship game. The Dukes lost the game 69–64, but earned an NIT bid, marking Duquesne's first postseason tournament since the 1994 NIT. He was fired on March 22, 2012, following the completion of his sixth season as coach of the Dukes.[2][3] On May 14, 2012, Everhart was named an assistant coach at his home-state West Virginia University under Hall of Fame coach and close friend Bob Huggins.[4] Head coaching record{{CBB Yearly Record Start | type = | conference = | postseason = | poll = }}{{CBB Yearly Record Subhead| name = McNeese State Cowboys | conference = Southland Conference | startyear = 1994 | endyear = 2001 }}{{CBB Yearly Record Entry | championship = | season = 1994–95 | name = McNeese State | overall = 11–16 | conference = 7–11 | confstanding = T–7th | postseason = }}{{CBB Yearly Record Entry | championship = | season = 1995–96 | name = McNeese State | overall = 15–12 | conference = 11–7 | confstanding = T–4th | postseason = }}{{CBB Yearly Record Entry | championship = | season = 1996–97 | name = McNeese State | overall = 18–12 | conference = 10–6 | confstanding = T–1st | postseason = }}{{CBB Yearly Record Entry | championship = | season = 1997–98 | name = McNeese State | overall = 7–19 | conference = 4–12 | confstanding = 9th | postseason = }}{{CBB Yearly Record Entry | championship = | season = 1998–99 | name = McNeese State | overall = 13–15 | conference = 11–7 | confstanding = T–5th | postseason = }}{{CBB Yearly Record Entry | championship = | season = 1999–00 | name = McNeese State | overall = 6–21 | conference = 5–13 | confstanding = T–9th | postseason = }}{{CBB Yearly Record Entry | championship = conference | season = 2000–01 | name = McNeese State | overall = 22–9 | conference = 17–3 | confstanding = 1st | postseason = NIT First Round }}{{CBB Yearly Record Subtotal | name = McNeese State | overall = 92–104 ({{Winning percentage|92|104}}) | confrecord = 65–59 ({{Winning percentage|65|59}}) }}{{CBB Yearly Record Subhead | name = Northeastern Huskies | conference = America East Conference | startyear = 2001 | endyear = 2005 }}{{CBB Yearly Record Entry | championship = | season = 2001–02 | name = Northeastern | overall = 7–21 | conference = 5–11 | confstanding = T–7th | postseason = }}{{CBB Yearly Record Entry | championship = | season = 2002–03 | name = Northeastern | overall = 16–15 | conference = 8–8 | confstanding = T–5th | postseason = }}{{CBB Yearly Record Entry | championship = | season = 2003–04 | name = Northeastern | overall = 19–11 | conference = 13–5 | confstanding = 3rd | postseason = }}{{CBB Yearly Record Entry | championship = | season = 2004–05 | name = Northeastern | overall = 21–10 | conference = 15–3 | confstanding = 2nd | postseason = NIT First Round }}{{CBB Yearly Record Subhead | name = Northeastern Huskies | conference = Colonial Athletic Association | startyear = 2005 | endyear = 2006 }}{{CBB Yearly Record Entry | championship = | season = 2005–06 | name = Northeastern | overall = 19–11 | conference = 12–6 | confstanding = 5th | postseason = }}{{CBB Yearly Record Subtotal | name = Northeastern | overall = 82–68 ({{Winning percentage|82|68}}) | confrecord = 53–33 ({{Winning percentage|53|33}}) }}{{CBB Yearly Record Subhead | name = Duquesne Dukes | conference = Atlantic 10 Conference | startyear = 2006 | endyear = 2012 }}{{CBB Yearly Record Entry | championship = | season = 2006–07 | name = Duquesne | overall = 10–19 | conference = 6–10 | confstanding = T–10th | postseason = }}{{CBB Yearly Record Entry | championship = | season = 2007–08 | name = Duquesne | overall = 17–13 | conference = 7–9 | confstanding = T–9th | postseason = }}{{CBB Yearly Record Entry | championship = | season = 2008–09 | name = Duquesne | overall = 21–13 | conference = 9–7 | confstanding = T–5th | postseason = NIT First Round }}{{CBB Yearly Record Entry | championship = | season = 2009–10 | name = Duquesne | overall = 16–16 | conference = 7–9 | confstanding = T–8th | postseason = CBI First Round }}{{CBB Yearly Record Entry | championship = | season = 2010–11 | name = Duquesne | overall = 19–13 | conference = 10–6 | confstanding = T–4th | postseason = CBI Second Round }}{{CBB Yearly Record Entry | championship = | season = 2011–12 | name = Duquesne | overall = 16–15 | conference = 7–9 | confstanding = T-9th | postseason = }}{{CBB Yearly Record Subtotal | name = Duquesne | overall = 99–89 ({{Winning percentage|99|89}}) | confrecord = 46–50 ({{Winning percentage|46|50}}) }}{{CBB Yearly Record End | overall = 273–261 ({{Winning percentage|273|261}}) }} References1. ^Ron Everhart. goduquesne.com 2. ^http://www.goduquesne.com/sports/m-baskbl/spec-rel/032312aab.html 3. ^http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/7728028/duquesne-dukes-fire-ron-everhart-coach 4. ^http://www.msnsportsnet.com/page.cfm?story=21266&cat=exclusives External links
