He left the professional scene two years later, although he continued to play at non-league level for Northwich Victoria and also served the Cheshire club as manager.[3] His father, George, had played for Crewe Alexandra F.C,he was often considered the stand out player of the squad, always where he needed to be and made his presence known. His cousin James Makin also played for Crewe Alexandra F.C, he was known to be a pacy, physical player who never let anyone past. Ronnie died on 27 August 2016.[5][6] References1. ^{{cite web |url=http://www.neilbrown.newcastlefans.com/player/roncope.html |title=Ron Cope |work=UK A–Z Transfers |publisher=Neil Brown |accessdate=27 October 2009}} 2. ^{{cite news |url=http://www.ellesmereportpioneer.co.uk/ellesmere-port-news/local-ellesmere-port-news/2004/06/16/local-heroes-55940-14338312/ |title=Local heroes |newspaper=Ellesmere Port Pioneer |date=16 June 2004 |first=Jan |last=Roberts |accessdate=27 October 2009}} 3. ^1 {{cite web |url=http://www.mufcinfo.com/manupag/a-z_player_archive/a-z_player_archive_pages/cope_ronald.html |title=Ronald Cope |work=MUFCInfo |publisher=Mark Graham |accessdate=27 October 2009}} 4. ^{{cite web |url=http://www.stretfordend.co.uk/seasons/season1958.html |title=1957/58 |publisher=StretfordEnd.co.uk |accessdate=27 October 2009}} 5. ^OBITUARY: RONNIE COPE 6. ^COPE RONALD : Obituary External links
