It is located in Beaver County, along Highway 14 between the City of Edmonton and the Town of Viking. The City of Camrose is approximately {{convert|58|km|mi|abbr=on}} south of Ryley. The village was named in 1908 after George Urquhart Ryley, Grand Trunk Pacific Railway Land Commissioner at the time.[4] DemographicsIn the 2016 Census of Population conducted by Statistics Canada, the Village of Ryley recorded a population of 483 living in 208 of its 235 total private dwellings, a {{percentage|{{#expr:483-497}}|497|1}} change from its 2011 population of 497. With a land area of {{convert|2.61|km2|sqmi|abbr=on}}, it had a population density of {{Pop density|483|2.61|km2|sqmi|prec=1}} in 2016.[5] In the 2011 Census, the Village of Ryley had a population of 497 living in 215 of its 241 total dwellings, an 8.5% change from its 2006 population of 458. With a land area of {{convert|1.97|km2|sqmi|abbr=on}}, it had a population density of {{Pop density|497|1.97|km2|sqmi|prec=1}} in 2011.[6] GovernanceAs set out by the Alberta Municipal Government Act, and overseen by Alberta Municipal Affairs, the village is governed by five councillors, who are elected at-large every four years. Lavonne Svenson is the mayor. The chief administrative officer, Michael Simpson, is the head of village administration.
