Species in the family have a cosmopolitan distribution, and are present in a wide variety of habitats, especially those with a plentiful supply of carbohydrate sources.[1] The family contains the species Saccharomyces cerevisiae, perhaps the most economically important fungus. GeneraAccording to the 2007 Outline of Ascomycota, 20 genera are within the family, although for several of these (marked with a question mark below), the placement is uncertain and requires more study.[2] BrettanomycesCandida ?Citeromyces ?Cyniclomyces ?Debaryomyces ?Issatchenkia Kluyveromyces Komagataella Kuraishia Lachancea ?Lodderomyces ?Pachysolen Saccharomyces Spathaspora Tetrapisispora Vanderwaltozyma Torulaspora ?Williopsis Zygotorulaspora References1. ^{{cite book |vauthors=Cannon PF, Kirk PM |title=Fungal Families of the World |publisher=CAB International |location=Wallingford, UK |year=2007 |pages=320–21 |isbn=978-0-85199-827-5}} {{Taxonbar|from=Q1187217}}{{yeast-stub}}2. ^{{cite journal |vauthors=Lumbsch TH, Huhndorf SM |date=December 2007 |title=Outline of Ascomycota – 2007 |journal=Myconet |volume=13 |pages=1–58 |url=http://archive.fieldmuseum.org/myconet/outline.asp |accessdate= |publisher=The Field Museum, Department of Botany |location=Chicago, USA}} 3 : Yeasts|Saccharomycetaceae|Ascomycota families |
