Santa Ynez High School was founded in 1896. SYVUHS was a 2005 California Distinguished School. The school's mascot is a pirate and its colors are orange and black. Sports teams compete in the CIF Southern Section Channel League. The school formerly participated in the International Baccalaureate Programme, but had to end the program because of a lack of funds.
