Popular place in sonkh- Gola Provision StoreHistoryAccording to a Gosain myth, Saunkh was founded by Sankhasur. A more reliable local tradition attributes the town's establishment to king Anangpal of Delhi. The ancestor of the town's Jat community was Ahlad, whose five sons — Asa, Ajal, Purna, Tasiha and Sahjua — divided their estate into five parts. These five areas were practically distinct villages connected by the central Saunkh bazaar.[1] The Saunkh fort was rebuilt by a jat king named Hati Singh Tomar, of the time of Maharaja Surajmal of Bharatpur.[2]{{pn|date=September 2018}}[3]{{qn|date=September 2018}} Demographics{{As of|2001}} India census,[4] Saunkh had a population of 8,488. Males constitute 54% of the population and females 46%. Saunkh has an average literacy rate of 70%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 77%, and female literacy is 62%.
