}}Scotia Centre is a commercial complex and small shopping mall in downtown Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, managed by Dream Office Management (Sask) Corp.[1]

Description

The mall portion of the Centre contains about a dozen stores.{{fact|date=April 2013}}

The headquarters of Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan are located in one of two office towers at Scotia Center, having relocated from Saskatoon Square in June 1985.[2] The company purchased its tower from the developer in 2005.[3]

History

The mall opened in 1985 on a site formally occupied by the original Capitol Theatre movie palace, which was demolished in 1979 to make way for the new project, although construction was delayed for nearly five years.[4][5] The groundbreaking for the project occurred in February 1984.[6] When the mall opened, it was notable for having downtown Saskatoon's first food court (Midtown Plaza across the street not opening its own for several more years).
