The Speaker of the Senate has a term of two years which can be renewed. A regular Member of the Senate though has a term of four years which can also be renewable as well. The meetings of the Senate are valid as long as everyone is there at the meeting. The decisions they make are determined by the number of votes, not including the Speaker.
