It covers an area of {{convert|26602.3|km2|sqmi|1}}, and has existed as a local government entity since 1916. HistoryThe Shire of Wyangarie, named for a prominent grazing homestead in the area,[2] was created on 1 January 1916 out of part of the Shire of Flinders under the Local Authorities Act 1902.[3] On 24 July 1930, it lost part of its area to Shire of McKinlay.
