Population: {{ru-census|p2010=62,763|p2002=59,082|p1989=47,257}} HistorySibay was granted urban-type settlement status in 1938.{{citation needed|date=September 2011}} On November 21, 1955, it was granted town status.{{citation needed|date=May 2010}} Administrative and municipal statusWithin the framework of administrative divisions, it is, together with the territory of Tuyalyassky Selsoviet (which comprises the selo of Tuyalyas), incorporated as the town of republic significance of Sibay—an administrative unit with the status equal to that of the districts.[2] As a municipal division, the town of republic significance of Sibay is incorporated as Sibay Urban Okrug.[3] Economy{{stack|}}Sibay is known by his deepest open-dip mine in Russia. Copper-zinc quarry is almost {{convert|2|km|sp=us|adj=on}} wide and {{convert|500|m|sp=us|adj=on}} deep. The town is served by the Sibay Airport.
