The album was released in April 1970, by King. Brown and saxophonist Maceo Parker worked with arranger/conductor Oliver Nelson to record a big band, funk and jazz vocal album. It was recorded with Louie Bellson and his 18-piece jazz orchestra at United Western Recorders in Hollywood, California in November 1969, and features jazz standards, show tunes, and middle of the road hits, as well as a new arrangement of Brown's funk hit "Papa's Got a Brand New Bag". The album was reissued in 2004 with one previously unreleased bonus track, a big band version of Brown's 1967 hit "There Was a Time", and new liner notes by jazz critic Will Friedwald. {{Album reviews|rev1 = AllMusic |rev1score = {{Rating|4|5}} [1] }} Track listing{{Track listing| title1 = That's My Desire | writer1 = Helmy Kressa, Carroll Loveday | length1 = 4:10 | title2 = Your Cheatin' Heart | writer2 = Hank Williams | length2 = 2:59 | title3 = What Kind of Fool Am I? | writer3 = Leslie Bricusse, Anthony Newley | length3 = 3:06 | title4 = It's a Man's, Man's, Man's World | note4 = Unedited Version | writer4 = James Brown, Betty Jean Newsome | length4 = 6:40 | title5 = The Man in the Glass | writer5 = Bud Hobgood | length5 = 5:56 | title6 = It's Magic | writer6 = Sammy Cahn, Jule Styne | length6 = 3:14 | title7 = September Song | note7 = Unedited Version | writer7 = Maxwell Anderson, Kurt Weill | length7 = 5:02 | title8 = For Once in My Life | note8 = Unedited Version | writer8 = Ron Miller, Orlando Murden | length8 = 4:43 | title9 = Every Day I Have the Blues | note9 = Unedited Version | writer9 = Memphis Slim | length9 = 4:28 | title10 = I Need Your Key (To Turn Me On) | writer10 = Louie Bellson | length10 = 3:46 | title11 = Papa's Got a Brand New Bag | writer11 = Brown | length11 = 4:41 | title12 = There Was a Time | note12 = 2004 reissue only | writer12 = Brown, Bud Hobgood | length12 = 3:04 }} Personnel
