He was a 6'5" (195 cm), 200 lb (91 kg) shooting guard and played collegiately at Auburn University. He had a brief career in the National Basketball Association. Born in Huntsville, Alabama, Pietkiewicz was selected with the second pick of the 7th round in the 1978 NBA draft by the Buffalo Braves. In 1978, the Braves moved their franchise to California, and became the San Diego Clippers. Pietkiewicz was a member of the San Diego Clippers' inaugural roster, during the 1978–79 season.[3] After signing two 10-day contracts with the Dallas Mavericks in 1981,[1] he was signed for the remainder of the 1980–81 season,[5] during which he played 36 games, averaging 3.9 points, 1.1 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game. After his NBA career, Pietkiewicz played professionally in Italy.[6][2] In 2007, Stan Pietkiewicz's son John signed a letter of intent to play with the Flagler College men's basketball team in 2007–08.[6] Notes1. ^1981 NBA Transactions {{webarchive|url=https://web.archive.org/web/20070928072816/http://n-c-systems.com/hoops/AllTransactions/ByYear/1981.php |date=September 28, 2007 }} [3][4][5][6]2. ^Lega A Basket 3. ^1 {{cite news |first=San |last=Goldaper |newspaper=The New York Times |title=Free Agents Taking New Route to N.B.A. |page=C12 |url=https://www.nytimes.com/1979/12/11/archives/free-agents-taking-new-route-to-nba.html |date=December 11, 1979 |accessdate=November 30, 2012 |quote=Stan Pietkiewicz earned about $10,000 playing for the Anchorage Northern Knights last season in the Continental Basketball Association.}} 4. ^1 {{cite news |first=Chris |last=Cobbs |newspaper=Los Angeles Times |title=Stan Pietkiewicz: Talent Is Lacking but Attitude Isn't for This Clipper |page=SD-B1 |url=https://pqasb.pqarchiver.com/latimes/access/658306732.html?dids=658306732:658306732&FMT=ABS&FMTS=ABS:AI&type=historic&date=Sep+23%2C+1980&author=&pub=Los+Angeles+Times&desc=STAN+PIETKIEWICZ%3A&pqatl=google |date=September 23, 1980 |accessdate=November 30, 2012}} 5. ^1 {{cite news |agency=Associated Press |newspaper=Daytona Beach Morning Journal |title=Pietkiewicz Busts Motta |page=4B |url=https://news.google.com/newspapers?id=eVAfAAAAIBAJ&sjid=xtEEAAAAIBAJ&pg=2087,4410601&dq=stan-pietkiewicz&hl=en |date=February 9, 1981 |accessdate=November 30, 2012}} 6. ^1 2 {{cite press release |first=John |last=Jordan |publisher=Flagler College |title=Pietkiewicz signs with Flagler College |url=http://athletics.flagler.edu/news/2007/5/16/mbball20070516pietkiewicz.aspx |date=May 16, 2007 |accessdate=November 30, 2012}} }} External links
