The Stone Age Institute is an independent research center dedicated to the archaeological study of human origins and technological development. The institute conducts research and education in human origins studies, publishes books and articles, and mentors prospective scientists The institute is housed in a {{convert|11400|sqft|m2|sing=on}} facility located on a {{convert|30|acre|m2|adj=on}} rural site outside Bloomington, Indiana. The Stone Age Institute is an autonomous research facility, but it has strong ties with Indiana University, especially CRAFT (the Center for Research into the Anthropological Foundations of Technology) and the Human Evolutionary Studies Program. The facility includes a research library on early prehistory and an extensive artifact collection donated by the late J. Desmond Clark, professor of Anthropology at the University of California, Berkeley. External links
