Established in 1878 by the Sisters of the Good Samaritan,[2] the College provides education for girls from the Sydney region, and currently has approximately 1010 students from Years 7 to 12, including 80 boarders from international, remote and urban areas.[3] St Scholastica's is an independent school of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Sydney,[3] and is affiliated with the Australian Boarding Schools' Association (ABSA).[4] SportingThe College sports program includes water polo, touch football, basketball, volleyball, rowing, tennis, netball and soccer, playing in the Catholic Girls Schools Secondary Sports Association (CGSSSA) competitions and in local competitions on weekends. They also have Tennis players competing in competitions. Before 2018 the College operated with 4 houses, Davis (Yellow), Polding (Blue), Ullathorne (Green) and Vaughan (Red).Now its carnivals and other house events are operated under 7 houses which match each homeroom and are named after notable women in the life of the College:
Each year the house with the most points wins the House Spirit Cup. House points are awarded to students for swimming and athletic carnival participation and spirit, for participation in a vast range of extra-curricular and co-curricular activities and for gaining awards. Notable alumnae
