The species has numerous common names such as Celebes forest kingfisher, blue-crowned kingfisher, Celebes dwarf-kingfisher, and Celebes pygmy-kingfisher.[2] Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical dry forests. It is threatened by habitat loss.
