They are found entirely within the Holarctic, mainly in North America but also appearing in parts of Europe and Asia. They were often historically classified as a subfamily in their own right, either within the Chrysomelidae or the Orsodacnidae. They are now referred to by some authors as a tribe of Eumolpinae, but others have criticised this placement and prefer to designate them as a separate subfamily of leaf beetles.[2][3] GeneraTwo genera belong to the tribe, containing a total of 12 described species:
