It is located in the Desolation Wilderness in El Dorado County, California. The origin of the name is not certain. It is probably named for a Swiss homesteader named Tell who lived a few miles to the west. At least one historian believes it was named for Ciperano Pedrini, a storekeeper in Garden Valley, who was known as Bill Tell.[4] References1. ^1 {{cite peakbagger |pid=2567 |name=Tells Peak, California}} 2. ^1 {{cite web |title=Tahoe OGUL Peak List |publisher=Western States Climbers |url=http://climber.org/wsc/OGULlist.html#b6}} 3. ^{{cite gnis |id=268137 |name=Tells Peak}} 4. ^{{cite book |last=Gudde |first=Erwin G. |title=California Place Names |year=1949 |location=Berkeley |publisher=Univ. of California Press |page=357 }} External links
