By coincidence, the bunker is a storehouse, so the prisoners have enough food and wine to last them for years. However, they are trapped not for years but permanently, and the film analyzes how they deal with their underground prison, with their relationships, and with death. Cast
InfluencesThe book and film appear to have been inspired by a possibly true story: On 25 June 1951, Time magazine reported that two German soldiers claimed to have been trapped for six years in an underground storehouse in Babie Doły, Poland.[4][5] ReceptionTV Guide states that "the film tries to study men in a terrible, claustrophobic setting, but it never reveals the true nature of the characters or a metaphysical reason for their predicament. A worthy idea that sadly goes nowhere."[6] However, the film does currently hold a 73% approval rating (based on 126 reviews) on Rotten Tomatoes.[7]References1. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.gostak.org.uk/sfbc/blockhouse.htm|title=The Blockhouse jean-Paul Clebert SFBC Science Fiction Book Club Bunker Babie DolyNo title|website=www.gostak.org.uk}} 2. ^{{cite web|url=https://player.bfi.org.uk/rentals/film/watch-the-blockhouse-1973-online|title=The Blockhouse|website=BFI Player}} 3. ^{{cite web |url=https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0069803/awards |title=IMDB.com: Awards for The Blockhouse |accessdate=2010-07-01 |work=imdb.com}} 4. ^{{cite web|url=https://news.google.com/newspapers?id=l5IVAAAAIBAJ&sjid=uAsEAAAAIBAJ&pg=6253,4601264&hl=en|title=Buried Alive For Six Years|publisher=Eugene Register-Guard|date=18 June 1951|accessdate=3 May 2012}} 5. ^{{cite web |url=http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,806023,00.html |title=In Babie Doly |publisher=Time magazine |date=25 June 1951}} 6. ^{{cite web | url=http://www.tvguide.com/movies/the-blockhouse/review/115678/ |title=The Blockhouse |work=TV Guide |publisher=CBS Interactive |accessdate=26 May 2016}} 7. ^{{cite web |url= http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/blockhouse/ |title=The Blockhouse |work=Rotten Tomatoes |publisher=Flixster |accessdate=21 April 2017}} External links
