The Boss is a wooden roller coaster located in Britannia at Six Flags St. Louis in Eureka, Missouri. It opened on April 29, 2000, and was manufactured by Custom Coasters International. It features a lift of {{convert|122|ft|m}}, a first drop of {{convert|150|ft|m}}, four drops of 150', 112', 103' and 72', and, prior to the 2018 season, a 570 degree helix.

History

The Boss opened in 2000, and is acclaimed for its "terrain twister" style, dipping up and down with the terrain beneath it.

In 2009, the coaster got spare coaster trains from a sister coaster, Twisted Twins at Kentucky Kingdom (then known as Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom) after shutting down the coaster's wing of the park. It had previously received other spare trains from Mega Zeph at Six Flags New Orleans.

During the ride's winter rehab prior to the start of the 2018 season, the 570° helix was removed and replaced with a 180 degree banked turn, shortening the coaster by {{convert|420|ft|m}}. [1][2]

Fun Facts

  • Ranked among the top 50 wooden coasters in the U.S. by Amusement Today's Golden Ticket Awards
  • Formerly the eighth longest wooden coaster in the world prior to the 2018 removal of the helix.[3]
