The Original Danish Polcalypso Orchestra is headed by Kazio Kierpaul. The name "polcalypso" describes a musical style that combines polka and calypso, which Kazio Kierpaul heard in the Virgin Islands.

Since 1988 the band has performed live on all kinds of stages in Europe and the Caribbean, and has been broadcast by a number of radio stations in Europe and America.
