The other leading star is Chinese Canadian actor Terry Chen, who plays her husband. It was both filmed, and set, in the city of Vancouver, in British Columbia in Canada, and was featured at the 2007 Toronto International Film Festival. Plot{{More plot|date=January 2015}}Married couple Sarah (King) and Jason (Chen), and son Sammy (Oey), travel to Vancouver for the funeral of Uncle Raymond (Foo). During this time, Sammy begins to see ghosts and falls gravely ill, his illness coinciding with the Chinese festival of Ghost Month. After traditional western medicine fails to help Sammy, Sarah turns to a mysterious pharmacist who tells her that her son is held in a death grip by a living corpse. Sarah now must find what the spirits want before the last day of Ghost Month, or Sammy will be lost forever. Cast
ProductionThey Wait was filmed on location in Vancouver in March 2007.[2]Reception{{expand section|date=January 2015}}COn Rotten Tomatoes, the film holds an approval rating of 40% based on {{nowrap|5 reviews}}, with a weighted average rating of 5.8/10.[3] Joe Leydon of Variety wrote that "Director Ernie Barbarash makes judicious use of CGI trickery -- in one key scene, he cleverly shocks his audience into laughing -- but at heart, he's an old-school traditionalist when it comes to scary stuff."[4] The Toronto Star and ReelFilm both panned the film, with ReelFilm's David Nusair saying that They Wait is "...a tedious and downright silly piece of work."[5][6] References1. ^{{cite web| title= TIFF: First Horror Film Announced, 'They Wait'| publisher= Bloody-disgusting.com| url= http://www.bloody-disgusting.com/news/9379| accessdate= 2007-09-08| deadurl= yes| archiveurl= https://web.archive.org/web/20070921111851/http://www.bloody-disgusting.com/news/9379| archivedate= 2007-09-21| df= }} 2. ^{{cite web|title=THEY WAIT for Jaime King and Michael Biehn |publisher=Fangoria |url=http://fangoria.com/news_article.php?id=3888 |accessdate=2007-09-08 |deadurl=yes |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20051217225432/http://www.fangoria.com/news_article.php?id=3888 |archivedate=December 17, 2005 }} 3. ^{{cite web|title=They Wait (2008) - Rotten Tomatoes|url=https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/they_wait/|website=Rotten Tomatoes.com|publisher=Rotten Tomatoes|accessdate=11 October 2017}} 4. ^They Wait Variety {{Webarchive|url=https://web.archive.org/web/20110610215101/http://www.variety.com/review/VE1117936916?refcatid=31 |date=2011-06-10 }} 5. ^{{cite web|last1=Walker|first1=Susan|title='They Wait': Not a ghost of a chance|url=https://www.thestar.com/entertainment/movies/2008/01/25/they_wait_not_a_ghost_of_a_chance.html|website=The Star|accessdate=7 July 2017|date=January 25, 2008}} 6. ^{{cite web|title=Toronto International Film Festival 2007 - UPDATE #6|url=http://www.reelfilm.com/tiff0706.htm#they|website=ReelFilm|accessdate=7 July 2017}} External links
