It is located {{convert|38|km|mi|abbr=on}} west of the City of Leduc, along Highway 39. Pigeon Lake and Pigeon Lake Provincial Park are located {{convert|20|km|mi|abbr=on}} south of the community. {{stack|}}DemographicsThe population of the Town of Thorsby according to its 2017 municipal census is 1,015,[4] a change of {{percentage|{{#expr:1015-1025}}|1025|1}} from its 2015 municipal census population of 1,025.[5] In the 2016 Census of Population conducted by Statistics Canada, the Town of Thorsby recorded a population of 985 living in 394 of its 428 total private dwellings, a {{percentage|{{#expr:985-951}}|951|1}} change from its 2011 population of 951. With a land area of {{convert|3.85|km2|sqmi|abbr=on}}, it had a population density of {{Pop density|985|3.85|km2|sqmi|prec=1}} in 2016.[6] In the 2011 Census, Statistics Canada originally reported that Thorsby had a population of 797 living in 334 of its 373 total dwellings, a -15.7% change from its 2006 population of 945.[7] Statistics Canada subsequently amended the 2011 census results to a population of 951 living in 394 of its 436 total dwellings, a 0.6% change from 2006.[8] With a land area of {{convert|3.87|km2|sqmi|abbr=on}}, it had a population density of {{Pop density|951|3.87|km2|sqmi|prec=1}} in 2011.[7][8] EconomyThe Town of Thorsby is a member of the Leduc-Nisku Economic Development Association, an economic development partnership that markets Alberta's International Region[9] in proximity to the Edmonton International Airport.[10] See also
