Travis Benjamin Rush (born 15 January 1971) is a country music singer from Oregon.

Biography

{{Original research|section|date=February 2015}}Travis Rush was born in Orange, California, where he lived for nine months. He then moved to Gold Beach, Oregon. By the age of 10, Rush was singing in contests and playing the piano for local fans in his home town. He starting writing his own music when he was 14 and recorded his first single in a small recording studio in Coos Bay, Oregon. The music was never released to radio.

After graduating from high school in 1989, Rush toured with Up With People. He performed over 200 concerts in 13 countries over the course of twelve months. After the tour, he moved back to Oregon to go to school at Oregon State University. In his second year, he dropped out and went back to Tucson, Arizona, where Up With People was based and was asked to go perform for Diet Coke in The Netherlands at the Floriada. After his two-week performance, he came back to the U.S. As he continued to write and record music in Tucson, he began modeling with an agency in Phoenix, Arizona, called the Robert Black Agency. He then moved to Los Angeles, California, where he worked with another modeling agency, while writing more music, attending songwriter workshops and pitching his songs to major records labels. He continued to get turned down by every label he approached. Finally, Rush decided that he needed to find another way to break into the major music scene, so he sold all of his gear, moved back to Oregon and bought a restaurant in Portland with a friend from home. He bought an $800 piano and put it in the bar where he would play and sing for customers every Saturday and Sunday nights. After six months, the restaurant was subjected to the floods of 1996 in Portland and he lost everything and was forced into filing bankruptcy. He then started an Internet business, which he had initially planned to use to promote talent. The website was called WebbTalent.com, which is no longer in existence. That business grew into building and hosting websites for companies all over the country. As of 2012, Rushweb Solutions hosts thousands of websites for small businesses, member-based non-profits, such as Rotary International clubs, and has developed a suite of online tools for the optometry profession. Throughout the next eight years of his life, Rush continued to write music and perform in small venues, until he decided it was time to go for it again in 2005. He began to use his in-depth knowledge of the Internet to catapult himself back into the music scene. In May 2006, he finished his debut solo album, Come And Get It. In September 2006, Rush signed a two-album licensing deal with a Los Angeles-based independent record label called Broken Halo Records.

Late in 2007, Rush was released from his second album obligation with Broken Halo Records at the request of Thom King, co-partner in Broken Halo Records. In late 2008, Rush and Thom King started a co-owned independent record label called Mason Records, LLC.

In 2008, Rush recorded a Christmas album, shortly after being approached by Nashville manager Jim Henson, who managed Joe Diffie and has also done tour and production management for other country acts, such as Travis Tritt, Joe Nichols and Restless Heart. Rush signed an artist management agreement with Henson and, in 2009, they teamed up with Nashville guitarist and producer Roger Eaton to begin the production of Rush's new album titled Feel, scheduled to be released March 16, 2010. As of 2012, his Christmas album was still unreleased.{{Update inline|date=February 2015}}

On June 31, 2012, Travis and Cheyenne welcomed their second child, Carter Daniel Rush, into the world. As a result, Rush decided to take a break from music, still writing as he could. Mostly to spend time with his family and also to invest some time in some other adventures relating to internet based ventures that he also owns. Then he and his wife had another daughter, Scarlett Elizabeth Rush, in the late summer of 2014. He plans to return to music someday, but for now his family and other business adventures have his attention.

Later in 2014, Rush decided to launch a new business startup with the goal of creating a simpler, more affordable type of vision care. He decided to call it Sightbox. At present, its focus is on a service specifically designed for the 39 million contact lens wearers in the U.S. Read more at [https://Sightbox.com Sightbox.com].

Sources say Travis is continuing to write new material about his family for his next music release. But for now, he wants to stay close to his family in Portland and try to make a difference with some needed changes to healthcare industry.
