The central government is located in Trenggalek Kota, which literally means "Trenggalek City". This regency has an area of 1,261.40 km2 an has a population of 674,521 residents as of 2010.[3] It is located on the southern shore of East Java and is surrounded by three regencies: Ponorogo to the northwest; Pacitan to the southwest; and Tulungagung to the east.
