It was endemic to the vicinity of Damascus in Syria. It was last recorded in the 1950s, has not been recorded since and is presumed extinct.[1] Drought, pollution and water extraction may have destroyed its habitat.[1] This taxon is considered to be a subspecies of T. simonis in FishBase[2] and considered a synonym of T. simonis by Catalogue of Fishes,[3] a view that FishBase now (2018) concurs with. This species reached a length of {{convert|13|cm|in}} SL.[2] References1. ^1 2 {{cite web |url=http://www.iucnredlist.org/search/details.php/61365/all|title=Tristramella magdelainae |last=Goren |first=M. |date=2005 |work=The IUCN Red List of Threatened Species |publisher=International Union for Conservation of Nature |accessdate=2007-08-05}} {{Taxonbar|from=Q553320}}{{Tilapiini-stub}}{{Syria-stub}}2. ^1 {{FishBase |genus= Tristramella|species= magdelainae| month = April | year = 2013}} 3. ^http://research.calacademy.org/redirect?url=http://researcharchive.calacademy.org/research/ichthyology/catalog/fishcatget.asp&tbl=species&spid=38597 7 : Tristramella|Fish extinctions since 1500|Cichlid fish of Asia|Fish of Syria|Endemic fauna of Syria|Fish described in 1883|Taxonomy articles created by Polbot |
