词条 Tropical Storm Sonamu
释义

The name Sonamu has been the name of three tropical cyclones in the western north Pacific Ocean. In addition, the variant Sonamu was used in 2000 and 2006 before the spelling was corrected by the WMO Typhoon Committee. The name was submitted by North Korea and is a Korean word for pine.

  • Severe Tropical Storm Sonamu (2000) (T0017, 25W) – came close to Japan without making landfall.
  • Tropical Storm Sonamu (2006) (T0611, 12W, Katring) – a weak system that was sheared by its proximity to the previous system; not a threat to land.
  • Severe Tropical Storm Sonamu (2013) (T1301, 01W, Auring) – an early forming tropical storm that hit the Philippines.

In February 2014, the name Sonamu was removed at the request from Malaysia due to causing unprecedented panic by the similar pronunciation to tsunami. The replacement name for this is Jongdari, which means skylark, to be used for future seasons.

  • Typhoon Jongdari (2018) (T1812, 15W)
