There was no Turkish National Final in 2003. Instead, TRT decided to send Sertab Erener to Riga to represent Turkey at the Eurovision Song Contest 2003. Sertab Erener is well known in her own country. Four songs were sung by Sertab, of which, one was chosen to go to Riga 2003: "Everyway That I Can". The song was such a success at the Eurovision Song Contest 2003 that it brought Turkey its first Eurovision victory ever. At EurovisionOn the night of the final, Sertab performed 4th in the running order, following Ireland and preceding Malta. At the close of voting "Everyway That I Can" had received 167 points (including a maximum 12 from Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Netherlands) placing country 1st and winning the contest for Turkey its the best result to date.This guaranteed Turkey automatic qualification to the final of the 2004 Contest.
