References are sometimes made to it by the Dutch name of Oeganda-waterbok. It is found in sub-Saharan Africa in South Sudan, Uganda, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Ethiopia. The Ugandan kob is normally reddish-brown, differentiating it from other kob subspecies. It is sometimes alternatively classified into the subgenus Adenota. A Ugandan kob appears on the coat of arms of Uganda.
