He is a People's Democratic Party (PDP) member and represents the Dukku/Nafada Federal Constituency of Gombe State. He is the 2019 Peoples Democratic Party's Governortorial Candidate in Gombe State. Early life and educationNafada was born in January 1961 in Gombe State to Bayero Nafada.[1] He holds a Teacher’s Certificate from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, Kaduna State and degrees in accountancy from both ABU[1] and the University of Maiduguri, Maiduguri, Borno State.[2] Political careerNafada was a member of the Gombe House of Assembly for the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) from 1999 until 2003,[3] and held the post of Speaker starting in June of that term.[1] He was also previously the Assistant State Auditor of Gombe State.[2] Nafada was elected to the national House of Representatives in 2003 as an ANPP candidate for Dukku/Nafada, but switched to PDP membership when his state began to vote that way. After the resignation of Babangida Nguroje amid the Patricia Etteh corruption scandal,[3] Friday Itulah of Edo State nominated Nafada to succeed Nguroje as Deputy Speaker. He was elected unopposed on November 2, 2007.[1] However, in July 2018, less than a year to the next national election, Senator Nafada, along with 14 other members defected from APC to PDP in an effort to cripple the APC-led administration due to their sour relationship with the presidency or important elites of the party.[4] References1. ^1 2 3 {{cite news |first= Stanley|last= Nkwazema |title= Enter Nafada, the New Deputy |url=http://www.thisdayonline.com/nview.php?id=94031 |work=Thisday online |publisher= Leaders & Company |date=2007-11-02|accessdate=2007-11-07}} {{Nigerian Senators of the 8th National Assembly}}{{DEFAULTSORT:Nafada, Usman}}{{Nigeria-politician-stub}}2. ^1 {{cite web |url= http://www.nassnig.org/House/Personaldata/Gombe/nafada.htm |title=Honourable Bayero Nafada |accessdate=2007-11-07 |work= |publisher=National Assembly of Nigeria |archiveurl = https://web.archive.org/web/20071020133245/http://nassnig.org/House/Personaldata/Gombe/nafada.htm |archivedate = 2007-10-20}} 3. ^1 {{cite news |first=Tuoyo |last=Ukusanren |title= The man Dimeji Bankole, new Speaker N-Assembly |url= http://www.vanguardngr.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=1363&Itemid=43 |work=Vanguard Online Edition |publisher= Vanguard Media Limited |date=2007-11-02 |accessdate=2007-11-03 }} 4. ^{{Why Dino Melaye, Gemade, 12 other Senators Dumped APC|https://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/headlines/277755-why-dino-melaye-gemade-12-other-senators-dumped-apc.html 10 : Gombe State|Members of the House of Representatives (Nigeria)|Nigerian accountants|Politicians from Gombe State|Ahmadu Bello University alumni|Living people|1961 births|People's Democratic Party members of the House of Representatives (Nigeria)|All Nigeria Peoples Party politicians|Members of the Senate (Nigeria) |
