She is one of the best-selling Serbian singers of all time. Early lifeVesna Zmijanac was born on 4 January 1957 in Nikšić, PR Montenegro, FPR Yugoslavia. Her father, Dušan, was from Sisak, present-day Croatia, and her mother, Kovina, was from Kraljevo, present-day Serbia. Her parents divorced when she was just a year old as they believed that they were too young to be married. Subsequently, Zmijanac was raised by her maternal grandmother, Natalija. She spent part of her childhood living in Vienna, Austria. CareerZmijanac started singing soon after graduating from middle school. She began singing in kafane, where she was soon discovered by the famous folk singer, Šaban Šaulić. He helped to launch her career. In 1979, she released her first single, "Hvala Ti Za Sve".
