His first collections of poems were released in 1935. During his 50-year career he published nearly 40 books, most of them poems. Kavaja's Tampereen runot ("Poems of Tampere 1918") has become a symbol of the pacifistic point of view of the Finnish Civil War. He is buried in the Hietaniemi Cemetery in Helsinki.[1] Notes1. ^{{Cite web|url=https://www.helsinginseurakunnat.fi/material/attachments/hautausmaat/hietaniemi/w8GZkM0y7/Hietaniemen_merkittavia_vainajia.pdf|title=Hietaniemen hautausmaa – merkittäviä vainajia|last=|first=|date=|website=|publisher=Helsingin seurakuntayhtymä|access-date=27 August 2016}} External links
