As of the 2010 census, its population was 2,029 and it contained 882 housing units.[2] The township contains a portion of the Morgan-Monroe State Forest. HistoryWashington Township was established in 1829.[3] It was named for George Washington, the first President of the United States.[4] GeographyAccording to the 2010 census, the township has a total area of {{convert|34.24|sqmi}}, of which {{convert|34.23|sqmi}} (or 99.97%) is land and {{convert|0.01|sqmi}} (or 0.03%) is water.[2] Unincorporated towns
