Closter played as both a wingman and centreman during his 191-game career, missing out on joining the 200 club due to National Service training commitments and a tour of duty fighting in Vietnam. He was however in 2007 inducted into the club along with his teammate Joe Sellwood and Essendon's Jack Jones who both served as well.[1] Footnotes1. ^{{cite news|last=Breen|first=Daniel|title=Geelong duo join exclusive AFL club|url=http://www.geelongadvertiser.com.au/article/2007/09/12/6813_geelong_sports.html|accessdate=25 January 2011|newspaper=Geelong Advertiser|date=12 September 2007}} References
