Wayne Lytle is the founder of Animusic, an American musical computer animation company focused on creating "virtual concerts" in which multiple instruments play a song on a computerized stage.

Background

Lytle performed in and composed most of the music for progressive rock bands throughout high school, and later studied classical piano. He first envisioned his idea of animated music in 1982, while an undergraduate student in music and computer science. In 1988, he joined the Cornell Theory Center, where he could experiment with his idea as a scientific visualization producer. As a long time musician, he specialized in composing and later created all the music for Animusic.

Before Animusic

He created the piece More Bells and Whistles at Cornell University in 1990 and composed Beyond The Walls in 1996.

Lytle founded Animusic (originally under the name Visual Music) in 1995 with his associate David Crognale. Together, they released Animusic 1 originally in 2001 (and re-released in 2004, with 5.1 surround sound and extra content) and Animusic 2 in 2005. (and re-released in 2010, along with Pipe Dream from Animusic 1, in full HD))[1] They both are making another musical film called Animusic 3 and were hoping to release it in October 2013, but Crognale left[2] and since then the release date has been postponed and is currently uncertain.

Lytle also has produced numerous computer animations for Siggraph.

He now lives in New York State with his wife Patricia and he has two children named Andrew and Elizabeth. Andrew appeared on the Director's Commentary of Animusic 2 during the animation Gyro Drums, and commented on the "electric drum part".
