It was previously known as 94.5 The Fox under the calls WFBX, and played rock music. With a 100,000 watt signal, it is by far the most powerful talk radio station in the Panama City market. It features the most listened to talk show host in America (Rush Limbaugh) in the midday and morning talk with, Preston Scott. NewsWFLF-FM broadcasts local news and weather updates from WJHG, the local NBC affiliate, twice an hour, plus updates from Fox News Radio following each local newscast. The station also carries the Wall Street Journal Report at the top of each hour, and twice an hour "Traffic Alerts" during AM and PM drive. History93.5FM WGCV, signed on 1977 as a station licensed to Port St Joe, Florida. Don Crisp bought 1080AM WJOE & 93.5FM WGCV in 1982, moved and upgraded the FM signal to 94.5 with 100kw of power. The stations were sold in 1983 to Brown Broadcasting, affiliated with John Brown University of Siloam Springs, AR. WJOE became WJBU, with WGCV changing calls to WJST with a rock format known as "T94". Initially, WJST was on a shorter, 500' tower (with the AM). In 1986, WJST moved to a 1,000' tower. Brown sold to Champion in 1986, who immediately sold the stations to Asterisk, Inc. WJST became a country station, but unable to compete effectively with the established 92.5FM WPAP, eventually had a call letter change to WWZR in 1989, with a format change to SMN's "Z-Rock" format.[1] This format only lasted until 1990-01-28, when it switched to Southern Gospel music.
