}}Whalleyana is an enigmatic genus of moths in the lepidopteran group Obtectomera,[1] endemic to Madagascar. The genus contains two species, whose biology and closest relatives are unknown. The genus had been placed in the picture-winged leaf moths, (Thyrididae), but then was placed in its own family (Minet, 1991), and later elevated to its own superfamily (Dugdale et al., 1999: 229-230); see also Fänger (2004). The genus was named after Paul E. S. Whalley, a British entomologist.[2] References1. ^Obtectomera 2. ^{{cite book |editor-first=John L.|editor-last=Capinera|last1=Heppner |first1=John B. |date=August 2008 |title=Encyclopedia of Entomology, Volume 4|edition=2nd |publisher=Springer Science & Business Media|pages=2889}}
