Named after A.D. Wilson, who was part of an early ascent of Mount Rainier,[2] the body of ice has an area of {{convert|0.5|sqmi|km2|1}} and has a volume of 1.9 billion feet3 (54 million m3).[3] The glacier is directly feeds ice to the adjacent, but much larger Nisqually Glacier. Starting from the head at {{Convert|9700|ft|m|-2}}, the glacier flows downhill southward.[4] One part of the glacier meets the Nisqually Glacier at {{Convert|8000|ft|m|-2}} and the other part of the glacier ends on a cliff in between the Wilson and Nisqually Glacier at {{Convert|7200|ft|m|-2|abbr=on}}.[4] Meltwater from the glacier feeds the Nisqually River.[3] See also
