WIUV is a radio station in Castleton, Vermont. It is the student-run station of Castleton University. The station signed on the air in 1976 and has an ERP of 230 watts from a transmitter located on campus.

Programming

WIUV's on-air programming consists of music blocks and original student produced programs.

3rd Axis Radio

3rd Axis Radio was a syndicated podcast created by former rapper, actor Sebastian Vego featuring independent music and artist interviews. The format of the show started as a spotlight of artists signed to the 3rd Axis label (now Valuez Entertainment LLC) similar to Drake's OVO Sound Radio. The full online version of the show was uncensored but FM syndications were edited to meet the FCC guidelines and cut down to only an hour with an additional music block similar to what the show played. It was aired every Thursday night at 9pm ET/6 PT later moving to Wednesday nights at the same time. 3rd Axis' format changed to traditional FM radio show DJ style featuring a panel of co-hosts and guest co-hosts every week, despite of different hosts almost every week, the two main hosts were always the same, Sebastian Vego with comedian and Valuez Entertainment co-founder Kevin "Buddha On The Block" Hardesty.

Controversy

The 3rd Axis show ratings were the highest the station achieved for its unique format and underground music from all genres such as Hip-hop, RnB, EDM, and Rock. However, there were topics that were too much for American airwaves. One episode particularly was banned from airing on WIUV relating to marijuana. It was recently legalized in the state of California where the show is based, not in Vermont where the station is. Since this episode was released online there was a rumoured rocky relationship between 3rd Axis and WIUV's program director shortly after this ban as listeners began to noticed the show was slowly being pushed off its rotation, as if the station was afraid of airing anymore episodes in fear of violations with the FCC. All rumors were debunked and a statement from Vego was released that the show was behind in hours of editing for its affiliate stations and weren't being pushed out in time to meet deadlines. Later newer episodes were aired on the station but during later hours, eventually the show was discontinued and their final episode was aired summer of 2018. 3rd Axis since rebranded as the Stay Lit podcast under the current Valuez Entertainment management only for online listeners.
