The station is owned by Lake City Educational Broadcasting Inc. WJIA broadcasts a Contemporary Christian music format.[1] HistoryPastor Stan Broadus originally attempted to purchase an existing Albertville, Alabama-based AM radio station in 1992 for his ministry but, after considering the cost and complication, his radio consultant persuaded him that starting a new non-commercial FM station would be easier and less expensive.[2] In January 1993, he filed for a construction permit to build a new FM station as Lake City Educational Broadcasting Inc.[3] This station received its original construction permit from the Federal Communications Commission on December 23, 1993.[3] The new station was assigned the call letters WAHF by the FCC on February 11, 1994.[4] During construction, the station switched callsigns to the current WJIA on May 23, 1994.[4] WJIA received its license to cover from the FCC on June 24, 1997.[5] References1. ^{{cite web|work=Arbitron |url=http://www.arbitron.com/ |title=Station Information Profile |deadurl=yes |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20100301134627/http://www.arbitron.com/ |archivedate=March 1, 2010 }} 2. ^{{cite web |publisher=WJIA Radio |title=History of WJIA Christian Radio |url=http://wjia885.com/ |first=Stan |last=Broadus}} 3. ^1 {{cite web |publisher=FCC Media Bureau |title=Application Search Details (BPED-19930121ME) |url=http://fjallfoss.fcc.gov/cgi-bin/ws.exe/prod/cdbs/pubacc/prod/app_det.pl?Application_id=180959 |date=December 23, 1993}} 4. ^1 {{cite web |title=Call Sign History |url=http://fjallfoss.fcc.gov/cgi-bin/ws.exe/prod/cdbs/pubacc/prod/call_hist.pl?Facility_id=36283&Callsign=WJIA |publisher=FCC Media Bureau CDBS Public Access Database}} 5. ^{{cite web |publisher=FCC Media Bureau |title=Application Search Details (BLED-19950905KB) |url=http://fjallfoss.fcc.gov/cgi-bin/ws.exe/prod/cdbs/pubacc/prod/app_det.pl?Application_id=213416 |date=June 24, 1997}} External links
