词条 | Young Elk |
释义 |
Young Elk (1770-1795) was a chief of the Omaha tribe. The Diary of Hosea Stout describes him as the son of Big Elk, and says that he was involved in peace negotiations with a group of Mormons regarding return of six stolen horses.[1] It is not clear whether Young Elk and Standing Elk, a son of Big Elk, are the same person.[2][3] References1. ^{{Cite book| last = Coates| first = Lawrence G| title = Cultural Conflict: Mormons and Indians in Nebraska| accessdate = 2015-04-01| url = http://files.lib.byu.edu/mormonmigration/articles/CulturalConflictMormonsAndIndiansInNebraska.pdf}} 2. ^Robert A Trennert Jr, "The Mormons and the Office of Indian Affairs: The Conflict Over Winter Quarters, 1846-1848," Nebraska History 53 (1972): 381-400. 3. ^{{Cite book| title = Third Annual Report of the Bureau of Ethnology: Omaha Sociology - Omaha Indian Heritage Project| accessdate = 2015-04-06| url = http://omahatribe.unl.edu/etexts/oma.0003/oma.0003.html}} External links
