The village is located along the Batnfjorden in the present-day Gjemnes Municipality. The village lies about half-way between the villages of Batnfjordsøra and Torvikbukt. Øre Church is located in this village. The village of Øre was the administrative centre of the old Øre Municipality which existed from 1838 until 1965.[2] HistoryThe municipality of Øre was established on 1 January 1838 (see formannskapsdistrikt). On 1 September 1882, a part of the municipality of Fredø (population: 40) was transferred to Øre. On 1 September 1893, the northern part of Øre (population: 226), was used to create the new Gjemnes Municipality. On 1 January 1965, the municipality of Øre ceased to exist when it was merged into Gjemnes Municipality (along with part of Tingvoll Municipality). Prior to the merger, Øre had a population of 1,565.[3] References1. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.yr.no/place/Norway/M%C3%B8re_og_Romsdal/Gjemnes/%C3%98re/|title=Øre|publisher=yr.no|language=Norwegian|accessdate=2010-11-18}} {{DEFAULTSORT:Ore, Norway}}{{MøreRomsdal-geo-stub}}2. ^1 {{cite web|url=http://www.snl.no/%C3%98re./kommune|title=Øre. – kommune|author=Store norske leksikon|authorlink=Store norske leksikon|language=Norwegian|accessdate=2010-11-30}} 3. ^{{cite web|first=Dag|last=Jukvam|publisher=Statistisk sentralbyrå|title=Historisk oversikt over endringer i kommune- og fylkesinndelingen|year=1999|url=http://www.ssb.no/emner/00/90/rapp_9913/rapp_9913.pdf|language=Norwegian}} 3 : Former municipalities of Norway|Gjemnes|Villages in Møre og Romsdal |
